In the heart of Nørrebro, of over 400 square meters, you will find Genbro – a second-hand shop with a deep anchoring in values, social responsibility and a mission that goes far beyond just buying and selling.
Genbro was founded on a simple idea: Everything has value when treated with respect. In a world characterized by overconsumption and waste of resources, we wanted to create an alternative. A place where second-hand things were not seen as waste, but as objects with history, character and life left in them. This was the start of Genbro’s history and mission.
A sincere desire to make a difference
Genbro is not just any store. Behind the shelves, clothes and furniture is a strong set of values and a clear vision: to promote sustainability, responsibility and community – and to do it with both heart and hands. Genbro is an eco-friendly store in Copenhagen.
We work every day to give used things new life and new purpose. Everything that can be recycled is carefully selected, prepared and put up for sale in the store so that it can continue its story with new owners. What can no longer be used is sorted correctly and handed over responsibly so that the resources can be recycled in the best possible way.
At Genbro, it’s not just about selling goods – it’s about taking responsibility for our consumption, taking care of the environment and showing that even the smallest actions can make a big difference.

A company built on values
Genbro company is built up without external collaborations or chain agreements. We are responsible for the entire process ourselves – from acquisition to pricing – and this means that everything in the store is carefully selected. This creates a unique atmosphere where you as a customer will not only find used items, but finds that have been curated with love and consideration.
Our mission is not just about selling second-hand. It is about showing how more sustainable consumption can become an integral part of everyday life. To show how to live with quality, character and conscience.
Mission with the heart
Although Genbro is an independent company, we always try to let the profits benefit those who need it most. Therefore, when the opportunity arises, we have donated surplus clothes to both Mission Africa, homeless people in Copenhagen, and other organizations that share our values.
It is important to us that our mission has multi-layered meaning – not only in an environmental sense, but also in a human and societal context. Clothes and things such as winter clothes are sold in the store, but in abundance and things that are still in usable condition, are given new life by people in need.
The Gospel in Action - Without Sermon
Although we are not a religious organization, we are inspired by the guiding principles of the gospel—charity, humility, and responsibility. We believe that our mission can be a silent form of preaching: a reminder that we all have a responsibility to care for each other and for the planet.
Therefore, our mission is as much about relationships and community as it is about goods and prices. Genbro is part of the local community we live in. We want to create a space where everyone – regardless of background and income – can feel welcome and find something they need.
